I grew up in Burtonsville and Laurel, Maryland, graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a degree in Science Education in 1979, then graduated from the University of Maryland Dental School in 1983. After receiving a Public Health Service Scholarship, I fulfilled my obligation by serving 4 years as a PHS officer in the Indian Health Service, spending 2 years in North Dakota and 2 years in Wyoming.

My wife Lisa and I moved to Western MD in 1987, wanting to get closer to family but preferring the mountains, and bought the practice of Dr. Blair Stump on Virginia Avenue. I then moved the practice to National Highway in LaVale in 1991, where the facilities could be easily updated and access made easier.

We have 4 sons, the first born in 1989 and the last in 1995, and live in LaVale. I enjoy fishing, woodworking, and playing hockey.
