WATERLASE ® is a revolutionary new dental laser that uses laser-energized water to cut teeth. A combination of laser energy and water-spray creates "Hydrokinetic" energy. Water droplets absorb the laser energy and become laser-energized water particles that, when directed at the tooth, rapidly remove enamel, dentin and decay. The Waterlase replaces the drill in many instances. The Waterlase significantly improves patients' comfort. Since there is no heat or vibration, the dental laser reduces the need for anesthesia.

What is HydroKinetic Energy?

WATERLASE ® uses Hydrokinetic technology to gently wash away decay with YSGG laser-energized water droplets. Hydrokinetic energy is produced by combining a spray of atomized water with laser energy. The resulting (HydroKinetic) energy gently and precisely removes a wide range of human tissue including tooth enamel (the hardest substance in the body), and soft tissue (gum tissue) with no heat or discomfort.

Benefits of the Dental Laser

Heat and vibration are the causes of most of the discomfort associated with the drill. Since Waterlase cutting does not transmit heat or vibration, many dental procedures can be performed without anesthesia, in most cases. The Waterlase gently performs numerous soft tissue procedures with little or no bleeding. The Waterlase also prepares your teeth in a way that maximizes the bonding of tooth colored fillings, allowing them to last longer.
